muse
community contribution policy
information from Peter Rossing,
owner
PLEASE READ BEFORE INQUIRING ABOUT CONTRIBUTIONS TO YOUR ORGANIZATION:
As
a small business owner and a resident of the neighborhood
where Muse is located, it is important to me to establish
and maintain
supportive relationships with the local community.
Muse has been fortunate to have a wonderful community of loyal
customers who have helped us survive the difficult economic climate
of recent years. Keeping a small business open has also required
financial discipline and a large commitment of personal debt and
outside income. I am grateful for the opportunity to help with
important causes, but I must balance community support with the
need to maintain a viable business.
who
may request contributions from muse:
We receive
many requests for support each week from community organizations.
We are happy to consider most requests, but will give priority
to
the
following groups:
- K-12 public schools within the neighborhoods immediately surrounding
our store
- Art-related clubs and associations active within the Portland
metropolitan area
- Not-for-profit organizations working with underserved and disabled
communities in the areas of art and creativity.
We are
not able to make contributions to:
- For-profit
organizations
- Groups
affiliated with churches, corporations, or other organizations
with dedicated sources of funding.
We do
not contribute to organizations that discriminate on the
basis of national origin, race, sex, sexual orientation, or religion.
how
to request contributions from muse:
Please make requests in
person or by email: muse@museartanddesign.com
To be considered,
all requests must clearly state:
- Your organization name
- Name of an individual to contact
- Date by which the donation is needed
- Date of the event (if any) for which donation is needed
- Please
allow 4 to 6 weeks between your request and the date you require
the donation.
- We will provide store contact information and information about
donated items, but cannot fill out forms and paperwork due to limited
staff time.
- Donations must be picked up in person during business hours unless
other arrangements have been made.
- Note that donations
of in-stock product and gift certificates do not represent an additional
tax deduction for Muse. Store inventory is
already a business expense that is deducted from business income.
